ElBaradei beefs up Constitution Party leadership

Constitution Party leader Mohamed ElBaradei on Sunday reshuffled the party's steering committee and made changes to the party's structure in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary election.

The new steering committee includes former Democratic Front Party deputy leader Ibrahim Nawar; former Free Egyptians Party leader Basel Adel; Ghad Party founder Gamila Ismail; Kefaya founding member George Isaac; prominent legal expert Hossam Eisa; prominent writer Alaa Al-Aswany; New Woman Foundation founding member Hala Shukrallah; and prominent filmmaker Yousry Nassrallah.

The committee now excludes Ahmed Hawary, Emad Atef, Shadi El-Ghazaly Harb, Israa Abdel-Fattah, Ahmed Hafez and Ahmed Darrag.

ElBaradei also established a new committee to supervise the upcoming parliamentary election. Advisors to the new committee include former Adl Party MP Mostafa El-Guindy, and Gamila Ismail.

Members of the election committee are, according to the party's regulations, not allowed to run in the parliamentary election. The committee should also consult with the governorates' committees on choosing the party's electoral candidates according to a set criterion and in compliance with agreements made with other parties.

ElBaradei also appointed Basend Fahmy as his deputy.
