Muslims in Ain Shams, Cairo, have accepted that a church may be built in their neighborhood on one condition: It should have no cross on it. This was the same condition made by the Salafists in many other places like Soul and Ayyat: No crosses!
In fact, I don't understand what crosses do for them. However, they say: “It provokes us!” Furthermore, at Empapa, where a church was demolished and Christians were attacked and killed by Muslims, the attackers said that Christians have provoked the Muslims by holding crosses before them! I wonder: Do they think that crosses are signs for war? If so, Christians could have put crossed swords instead just like the Muslim Brotherhood put in their logo that clearly calls for Jihad.
Cross in Christianity is a sign of love. The bible reads: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. And it's a sign of forgiveness like Jesus Christ forgave His crucifiers. Moreover, it's a sign of peace as Christ has made peace between earth and heaven through His cross.
Why do they hate the cross then? Is this because they believe, as their holy books say, it's a house of infidelity that shouldn't exist in a Muslim country? Yet, they claim to be very tolerant and mild!
In fact, they have only intolerance and hatred that appear in the speeches of their Sheiks. For instance, the report of the National Council for Human Rights mentioned that the Muslims have prevented the Coptic Christians from reaching the next mosque in order to get water to distinguish the fire in the burning church.
The problem isn't only about the cross, but it's all about the mere existence of the church that means to have Christians in the neighborhood. Therefore, I suggest that the government should dissolve the ministries of interior and justice to be replaced by a ministry of customary sessions that will be able to solve the problem by building churches, but name them “Mosques” like: “Mosque of St. Mary and Archangel Michael”!
