The current scene in the Egyptian community pushes us to stop and think for a while about a real solution for the situation at hand. Before this analysis, however, we should admit that the Muslim Brotherhood is one of the main factors responsible for the chaos we are now living in. We have to be sure that if the Muslim Brotherhood showed any hint of wisdom and pragmatism in dealing with the political situation, we wouldn’t have reached to such a state.
Basically, the Muslim Brotherhood felt that after the presidential election it had the ability and capacity to govern Egypt as a supreme power. Perhaps they forgot that the Egyptian society is very complicated and hasn’t any one orientation. This is the main key to creating a real solution.
Furthermore, this isn’t the only thing we need to start conciliating between all political powers but, additionally, we need other political powers to be ready to introduce concessions. You may ask, “What do other political powers have to introduce as concessions?” Liberal and political parties have various compromises to present.
One of such is to accept to sit with the president in a national dialogue. Without this dialogue we will never reach a solution within the community. Which means our community will remain in chaos for more time, which in turn, means more suffering for the normal citizen.
The International Community is supporting Morsi. This is a disheartening fact we should recognize and not neglect. If we neglect this truth, nothing will take off from the ground. If we neglect that the International Community deals with Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood as the only organized group that could manage Egypt, we don’t understand the actual, objective actuality of the current scenario.
We should work on the ground and organize our efforts which means as I believe is to merge all liberal political parties in one party and start to make strong coalition which will enable the opposition to convince the international community that there are many other groups organized and able to take the responsibilities.
The Muslim Brotherhood should also be making concessions. One of the main settlements that should be introduced is to announce discussing the articles that the opposition wants to amend in the constitution. It should announce that they were wrong in approving the constitution without a national consensus.
I believe these are the main steps needed so we can rest for a while from this chaos and conflict we live in. Unless we suffer from a civil war in the future and no one will know until it’s too late.
