For the first time, Cathedral of St. Mark under attack, Abba Pachomius says

Abba Pachomius, Bishop of Behira and former acting Patriarch, said that the great Cathedral of St. Mark is attacked for the first time in history. 

 

He denounced attacking the Cathedral for hours before the police moved to protect it.

 

Pachomius added that for decades the Cathedral has been both an important Christian symbol and the papal residence, and there has never been any problems with the neighbors.

 

Security should be resorted as soon as possible in order to be able to develop the economy and the tourism. Moreover, religious and media discourse should be renewed along with the education, he added.

 

Abba Pachomius called the Coptic Christian young people to avoid using violence, stick to peaceful actions, and not to resist evil with evil.
