Steadfast Christians

Every now and then, the Christians are attacked and prosecuted in Sudan, Iraq and Egypt. Their rights are taken away along with their dreams. They are often accused, and feel like strangers in their home countries. Therefore, many of them have decided to immigrate to the west seeking freedom of worship as well as the safety of their children.

Fanatics were giggling after innocent people were murdered in the Church of “Lady of Deliverance” in Iraq, as well as in Egypt’s Great Cathedral, and many cities. Churches are under the attack of fanatics using both stones and guns, even in collusion with the government that thinks demonstrating against the government and building churches are but intolerable crimes!

What’s wrong with the Middle East? Why does it hate freedom of worship so much? Christians and Muslims but brothers who share the land and the air? Moreover, we worship the same one God.

I tell you that we are going to stay here. The Copts will never abandon their homeland. We are going to spread love and tolerance. This is our land, and we’ll stay here forever, in order to worship our God even if we don’t have a church. We will be asking God to show mercy and forgiveness for all people.

Jesus said: “Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy”. Dear Middle East, Christians will remain steadfast, even under your persecution!
