The Copts have been continually suffering from persecution and killed by the Muslims for a long time. During this persecution, some Copts have been killed and others injured. Some lost their main source of life from perhaps injuries during these accidents or because their shops were burned.
I was thinking, “How do these people survive the aftermath, who cares about them?” I can understand that the church and some other good and wealthy Christians send help when such accidents happen, but is this enough!?
I believe that the Cathedral and the Pope should pay attention to such issues because these people, although can find help elsewhere during the accident, may not find the help they require afterwards. I suggest that because we suffer roughly every month from sectarian events the Pope should make special donation box for these situations. Such a box could be devoted just for the people who have suffered from sectarian occurrences.
When I say donation box I mean a box that will help not just the victim, but also their family. From what I have experienced witnessing the horrible accident in Alex in 2011, is that we need a mechanism to follow up with the family of the victim. The most suffering does not exist at the time of the accident where all people care and ask about everyone, but the most important time is after the accident and after all people expressed their sympathies to the victims.
The Cathedral should announce this box and let everyone participate. We need to mobilize our efforts in something we can feel that we all participate in. We need to feel united in such situations. We all need to let the victims feel that they are honored and don’t need to beg anyone for help.
This is the time for such a box. The Copts have suffered from many accidents recently. You might disagree, but this box means the encouragement of Copts to be calm inside the church and not be the under the discretion of the country nor the church. I have to be realistic in this matter, however, because from experience in the past accidents we didn’t see any efforts from the country towards them financially or emotionally.
These actions should begin to lighten the pain that the Copts feel occasionally. In the meantime, by this way Copts will share and begin to experience their subjective feelings, not always objective one. We should start this box now and this box should be for all places to share in and be public.
