Gebrael demands trial of Matay prosecutor for applying Islamic Sharia instead of Egyptian law

Dr. Naguib Gebrael, head of the Egyptian Union for Human Rights, said that the prosecutor of Matay, who ordered a drunk man to be whipped 80 lashes for being drunk, have committed two crimes that he should stand trial for.

 

First, he didn't apply the Egyptian law, and applied the Islamic Sharia instead. Second, he incited to felony, as he ordered the warden of Matay police station to whip a citizen and torture him against the law, he added.
