Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, said that the true numbers of the Copts are kept secret by the state, and it's needed to know the real numbers.
He added in an interview with anchor Lubna Asal aired yesterday on Al Haya private television that the interior minister had promised to solve the case and arrest the criminals in attacking St. Mark's great Cathedral. I was really sad to see the police attacking the Cathedral with tear gas, along with the criminals, said the Pope.
He added that the rule of the law in Egypt would have prevented the repetition of such sectarian incidents.
He explained that he can only control three private channels that belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church and are aired from Egypt, while the state doesn't stop many Islamic channels that insult Christians and incite against them.
