The six arrested during a solidarity protest for activists charged with belonging to radical Black Bloc groups in April have been found innocent by a Cairo Appeal Court on Monday.
The six had been slammed with three years for destroying a court, two years for burning a police car and six months and an LE30,000 ($4,300) fine for assaulting a government employee.
Since the start of 2013 around 2,000 people have been arrested during clashes in Cairo, most of whom have been released but not formally acquitted. Dozens have been arrested from their homes for allegedly pertaining to Black Bloc.
Several well-known activists have also been put on trial throughout the past few months, including April 6 founding member Ahmed Maher, blogger Alaa Abdel-Fattah, No to Military Trials founding member Mona Seif, as well as Justice and Freedom Youth member Ahmed Doma, who remains in custody
