I’ve always thinking about how to get the Copts united, and I was encouraged to write this article after many articles in Copts United have tackled the topic. I believe that one of the biggest difficulties facing the Coptic cause is that the Copts themselves are scattered ideologically, intellectually and economically.
The Coptic people, not the Coptic activists, have to push a head their case through a public movement. Just like they used to do in the past upon building a small chapel. Each Christian in the neighborhood used to donate building material or a piece of furniture till the chapel is ready. It used to be simple, however, full of the Holy Spirit.
We need massive work by all of the Coptic people. As the Coptic activist can’t work without the support of the Coptic masses, no matter how many “Coptic” conferences held. I believe that the Copts are able to perform miracles that no activists can perform alone.
Talking finance, such massive work will enable collecting annual contributions, which will bring a lot of money from both: the Coptic Diaspora and even the poor Copts in Egypt. This money may be used for supporting the Coptic issues in many ways.
We need to change our mind, and work instead of crying over spilled milk. The Islamists have won many rounds as the Copts were in a coma, of which I hope we will wake up soon.
