Indonesian clergy visit Egypt to talk about coexistence and tolerance

The Evangelical Church of Egypt (Synod of the Nile) has organized a meeting with an Indonesian delegation of Muslim and Christian clergy to talk about their experience with coexistence among 240 million people and 6 major religions.

Mama Henna, member of the delegation, said that the Indonesian Government bases its ruling philosophy on the Pancasila or Five Principles as laid down in the Preamble to the country’s 1945 Constitution.

These principles are: Belief in one God, Just and civilized humanity, Unity of Indonesia (through diversity of its peoples), Sovereignty of the people, and Social Justice.

The assembly agreed that people in Egypt should give great concern to values of coexistence and tolerance, as well as keeping the Egyptian identity.
