At an international conference focusing on the independence of Egypt's Judiciary on Monday, the president of the International Association of Judges announced a new committee to investigate the feud between the judiciary and the government in Egypt.
Gerhard Reissner explained that the association plans to present a comprehensive report on the matter to the United Nations, after hearing from all parties, reported the state news agency.
The committee will also review the legality of the new judiciary law that is currently being discussed by the Shura Council (the country's legislature until the election of a new House of Representatives).
The draft law forces 3,500 senior judges to retire at 60 years old as opposed to 70 - a move seen by many as an attack on Egypt's judicial independence.
Reissner pointed out that this law must be approved by public opinion and the largest number of experts possible before ratification.
He described the removal of prosecutor-general Abdel Maguid Mahmoud as a violation of law.
After his election as president, the Muslim Brotherhood Mohamed Mursi removed the Mubarak-appointed prosecutor-general and replaced him with another.
