Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou will head for Saudi Arabia next week with a number of senior officials of the Tourism Ministry and the Egyptian Chamber of Tourism Establishments (CTE) to discuss the kingdom's decision to reduce the number of pilgrims during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
The decision will hit Egyptian travel agencies with heavy losses, the head of the CTE Fund said.
Saudi Arabia decided to shrink the number of Islamic States'' pilgrims to 500,000 with Egypt's share dropping from 300,000 to 100,000 pilgrims.
The kingdom took the decision to finalize expansions of Masjid al-Haram or the "Grand Mosque" which were scheduled to be finalized in Shaaban, the month which precedes Ramadan in the Islamic calendar.
