A criminal court sentenced the governor of Cairo, Osama Kamal, to one year in prison for not fulfilling a judicial order to compensate a man for the illegal confiscation of his land by the governorate.
The Cairo Court also dismissed the governor from his post in its ruling.
Kamal was notified more than once of the prosecution's decision to pay financial compensation to the owners of the seized land, yet he did not implement it.
He can appeal the court's verdict.
