In an exclusive interview with Copts United, Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, said in Vienna that the majority of Muslims in Egypt are moderate, but the fanatics have much louder voices.
He added that the Egyptian government wasn't interested in promoting relationships with Ethiopia for thirty years in spite of its importance as headwaters of the Nile and its huge natural resources including agricultural and livestock production.
Pope explained that Ethiopia has decided to establish “Progress dam” in order to generate the needed electricity.
“Our Church has very limited role to play in this crisis as the Ethiopian Church has separated from our Coptic Orthodox Church”, added Pope Tawadros. “I may, however, discuss the matter with the Ethiopian Patriarch during his upcoming visit to Egypt”.
