14 pro-MB protestors imprisoned 15 days pending investigations

Fourteen Muslim Brotherhood supporters were put into custody for 15 days pending investigation on Sunday after being arrested during the clashes that took place in Helmeyet al-Zaytoon last Friday .

National Security investigations allegedly found that the defendants took part in a demonstration, then physically assaulted both the security and the residents of the neighborhood, and threw stones and fired birdshot at them. Investigations also found that they had attacked the armed forces recruitment area and smashed the facade of an armed forces hotel.

The prosecution leveled the following charges against the defendants: demonstrating without a permit from the Interior Ministry, destroying public and private properties, causing a state of panic among peaceful citizens and intimidating them, disrupting traffic, rioting, thugerry, joining a terrorist gang with intentions of breaking the law, possessing firearms, birdshot and Molotov cocktails, and attempting murder .

The clashes between supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood on the one hand and security forces and the residents on the other hand left 11 people injured, including two in serious condition. Two security members were also injured by birdshot during the clashes.
