Egypt: a year after attacks, Coptic Christians worship atop church ruins
A year after dozens of churches in Egypt were destroyed in a wave of anti-Christian violence, some Coptic Christians are still gathering to worship on top of church ruins.A year after dozens of churches in Egypt were destroyed in a wave of anti-Christian violence, some Coptic Christians are still gathering to worship on top of church ruins.

Despite the Egyptian government’s pledge to rebuild all of the churches that were destroyed, only five have been rebuilt.

According to Morning Star News, which reports on the plight of persecuted Christians, “many of those convicted, including some 1,212 who were sentenced to death by a judge in Minya, were found guilty of committing acts of terror or for the murder of a police officer. But no one has been tried for killing any of the Coptic Christians who were slain, for the church burnings or for damage to private property. None of the imams who called for Muslims to attack Christians were prosecuted.”
