Putin to visit Egyptian Space Center during 2-day visit

High-level delegation is expected to arrive Egypt Feb.9 along with the Russian president Vladimir Putin including Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Youm7 reported.

Unnamed Russian sources told Youm7 Thursday that Putin’s schedule in Egypt will be “busy,”  and although not many official details have been announced, the source mentioned a quick visit to the Egyptian Space Center was on the program.

An Egyptian delegation recently visited Russia in preparation for the upcoming Egypt Economic Development Summit expected next March.

According to Youm7, after the two-day visit of Putin, a number of agreements between the two sides will be announced in different fields, including economy and trade.

A statement released by the presidency Wednesday, stated that Putin will visit Egypt from Feb. 9-10 at the invitation of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

“The two Presidents will discuss ways to advance bilateral relations, in addition to regional and international issues of mutual concern. They will also exchange views regarding the developments in the Middle East, the situations in Syria and Libya and how to push forward the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis,” the statement read.

President Sisi made his first visit to Russia in August 2014, soon after his June election. He reached deals with his Russian counterpart to create a free trade zone with Eurasian countries and discussed a Russian industrial zone in Egypt as part of the Suez Canal Axis project.
