Father Boktor Saad, priest of St. Mary Church in Kafr Hakim, Kerdasa, said he was surprised to hear the pleading of the accused of burning the church in which the lawyer claimed there was no church in village at all!
The priest explained that the church was built many years ago and was inaugurated by bishop Theodosios of Giza, before it was attacked, burned and looted on August 14, 2013 causing losses estimated at 650.000 LE.
73 people were accused of attacking the church, and are accused of several accusations including joining a terrorist organization, and demolishing a church. The case was postponed to March 8.
