The fire has destroyed Al-Nahas Studio, also known as Al-Nil Studio; one of the country’s most prestigious studios that was founded in 1946, security source told Youm7.
The fire also destroyed old books, manuscripts, photos, shooting equipments and other contents of the cinema cultural center, according to the source.
Twenty fire fighting and hydraulic ladder vehicles were sent to the scene to control the fire which erupted around 07:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The cause of the fire is not known. However, the police have ordered an inquiry into the blaze.
Over the past two months, a number of fires broke out in different cities with many concentrated in Cairo. The headquarters of the Cairo Governorate, plastic factories in 6 October City and in the Beheira governorate all suffered substantial damages. However, the biggest blazes were reported in Ataba and Ghouria, which are both busy markets selling fabric, plastics and other goods.
