Egypt court upholds sentence of life imprisonment against 3 alleged Muslim brotherhood members

Egypt’s Giza Criminal court upheld life imprisonment sentences against three people, allegedly belong to the banned Muslim brotherhood group, over charges of burning a church in blue-collar district Kerdassa of Giza on Monday, Youm7 reported.

In July, a court has sentenced life imprisonment against the three defendants, who were tried in absentia, and fined 20,000 EGP.

They faced charges of burning Virgin Mary Church in Kerdasa on Aug. 14, 2016, following the ouster of former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi by the military after protesters called for the end of his regime on June 30, 2013.
