Ahlys Dieng and Ashraf cleared to join team following injury

Ahly were relieved on Wednesday after defensive midfielder Aliou Dieng and defender Ayman Ashraf were cleared to join the team’s trainings despite their recent injuries.

Ahly are preparing for the anticipated match against archrivals Zamalek in the African Champions League final in Cairo on 27 November.

Dieng and Ashraf were stretched off while being on international duty. Dieng left Mali’s game against Namibia in the African qualifiers on Tuesday after feeling pain, while Ashraf departed Egypt’s game with Togo earlier on the same day.

The injury of both players came as a blow for Ahly    s South African coach Pitso Mosimane as the team have experienced multiple injuries.

“I suffered from a knock and strain, but it is not a serious injury. I will join the team after arriving in Cairo,” Ashraf told On Time Sports TV channel  on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Ahly’s official website reported that Dieng told the team’s football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz that he is ready to join the trainings after suffering a minor knock.

The Reds are still waiting for the recovery of right-back Mohamed Hani who suffered a knee injury in the match against Togo on Saturday.
