Egyptians of January 25th demands constitutional scholars and Sheik al-Azhar not to leave the ground for ignorance and extremism

Egyptians of January 25th movement in Britain sent a request to the professors and Constitutional Law scholars of Egypt, showed that Egypt has participated in drafting the Charter of the United Nations, and therefore it does not make sense, in these difficult circumstances after the great revolution, that the geniuses of constitutional law should melt, leaving the stage for such constitutional nonsense that appeared in most decisions issued during the transitional period by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. The movement required to work on a constitution for Egypt that commensurate with its historical significance, and not to leave the stage for the beneficiaries and climbers. Egypt needs to unify in order to regain its position among Arabs, and open the door for the advancement of the Arabs and the Middle East. This will come only through a civil, democratic and centrist constitution.

The movement appealed to Dr. Ahmed al-Tayeb, Shayk al-Azhar  to bear his  great responsibilities in keeping his moderate school opened to the cultures of the world, and away from the schools of ignorance and extremism, which is a different Islamic school from Al-Azhar. Adding that the role of Al-Azhar today, both in drafting the constitution or putting the rules governing the future of Egyptians is a very significant one, and must be played by men of al-Azhar, with no fear, and bearing their responsibility witnessing to the truth. Al-Azhar scholars should not wait for any request to save the future of Egypt, to help every Egyptian citizen to enjoy pride, dignity, justice and equality.
