Ikhwan leader explains Egyptian situation

Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Liaqat Baloch on Sunday rang up prominent Ikhwanul Muslimoon leader Muhammad Miftah currently in Egypt and discussed with him the latest situation in Egypt, especially

the preparation of a new constitution and the Opposition rallies against Egyptian President Dr Mursi.

The Ikhwan leader told the JI Secretary General that the preparation of the new constitution was going on successfully but the secular lobby had challenged the entire process in the court in a bid to push the country towards anarchy and turmoil once again. In such a situation, President Mursi had issued a Presidential ordinance giving protection to the framing of the constitution.

The Ikhwa leader further said that the opposition and the secular lobby was making false propaganda that President Mursi was trying to grab unlimited powers. The fact was just the opposite and under the proposed amendment, the President’s powers were being curtailed. He said the western and secular media was exaggerating the protests against President Mursi and completely ignoring the peaceful rallies and million marches being held in support of Dr Mursi. He was confident that the secular and pro US lobby would be defeated in its unholy designs.
