Brotherhood moves protests to Cairo outskirts away from security forces

The Muslim Brotherhood called for demonstrations in the outskirts of Cairo to be away from security forces according to the National Alliance Supporting Legitimacy.

The Brotherhood is trying to mobilize the public against what it calls coup against legitimacy. Marches has started moving in Cairo and other cities on Sunday afternoon. Few protesters have shown up, however.

The National Alliance Supporting Legitimacy has cancelled a press conference that was scheduled to be held in Roxy Square in Heliopolis due to a heavy security presence there.

Brotherhood member Mahmoud Shaaban Bayoumy told Egypt Indepedent that demonstrations are planned be held in in Sphinx square, Helwan, and outside the Supreme Constitutional Court on the Maadi Corniche.

“The security forces push us away from the city center for our demonstrations to seem weak,” he said. “But we will face their bullets with our bare chests.”

The National Alliance Supporting Legitimacy has called on protesters to go down for night marches to defy the military-imposed curfew. No crowds have materialized on the streets until an half an hour after the curfew started.
