Hamas denies setting up training camps with Egypt's Brotherhood in Gaza

Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement, has denied establishing joint training camps with the Muslim Brotherhood in southern Gaza.

Samy Abu-Zuhra, Hamas spokesperson, said in a press conference Sunday.

"The movement expresses its deep discontent with Egyptian media reports about establishing joint training camps for Al-Qassam militants and Muslim Brotherhood members in southern Gaza."

Abu-Zuhra added: "Hamas denies these allegations and considers them as lies inciting against our Palestinian people and resistance forces, as well as justifying the unjustifiable campaign against [Egypt-Gaza border] tunnels and the almost permanent closure of the Rafah crossing."

The press conference comes after Egyptian military spokesperson Ahmed Ali announced on Friday that security forces killed 78 suspected Islamic militants, including 32 foreigners, in recent operations in Sinai. The exact nationalities of the foreigners has not been declared.

Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, is the Palestinian offshot of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Egyptian news reports claim that Hamas and other Palestinian militant organisations are behind recent attacks on Egyptian security personnel, convoys and checkpoints.
