CAIRO: Army and police forces still have the authority to face violence when the emergency state is terminated, Ahmed Fawzi, general trustee of the Social Democratic Party, said Wednesday.
He urged political forces to support the army and police in this situation.
Fawzi told Youm7 that ending the emergency state was necessary because of international pressure and the demands of civil society. He added that the regular laws are enough to face vandalism and assaults on public buildings that may accompany demonstrations.
Assaulting public buildings, starting fires and killing are not a form of demonstration, Fawzi said, but criminal acts that security forces can face with determination. He further mentioned that security forces will remain in the squares to protect citizens.
