A Cairo criminal court has dismissed a corruption case against Mubarak-era steel tycoon Ahmed Ezz and the former head of the industrial development authority Amr Assal, removing their names from travel ban list, after the pair reached a financial settlement with the state. Egypt has dismissed as "baseless allegations" the UN s human rights chief criticism of the political climate in Egypt in the run-up to this month s presidential elections. The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed an agreement Tuesday with a consortium comprising Orascom Construction, Engie, and Toyota Tsusho Corporation to build a $400 million wind farm in the Gulf of Suez s Gabal El-Zeit, according to a Cabinet statement. The agreement is under a build-own-operate framework to generate wind power at a capacity of 250 MW. This represents a third of the total wind power currently generated in Egypt, according to the statement. Egypt and Saudi Arabia signed on Monday investment agreements worth $10 billion to develop 1,000 square km of land in South Sinai, and commit the territories to Saudi’s ‘Neom’ Project, which seeks to build a new megacity, Sky News Arabia reported. Egypt did not receive any notification from Ethiopia about filling the reservoir of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), an official source familiar with GERD negotiations told Al-Masry Al-Youm on Saturday. The Ministry of Transport announced that the death toll in a collision between a cargo and a passenger train in Beheira has risen to 15, with 40 people injured. A passenger train collided with a cargo train in Beheira on Wednesday afternoon. The Railway Authority explained in a statement the cause of the accident, saying part of the passenger train’s wheel fell off from the third wagon and hit the cargo train.
