Italian multinational oil and gas company Eni announced Thursday the start-up of the third production unit (T-2) of the Zohr Gas Field project, increasing its functional capacity to 1.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d). "Zohr is now producing 1.1 bcfd, equivalent to approximately 200 thousand boe/d [barrels of oil equivalent per day], of which 75,000 boe/d net currently go to Eni. Egypt and Uganda signed a number of cooperation agreements on Tuesday in a ceremony in Cairo attended by ministers of both countries and presided over by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Musevni. Minister of Finance Amr al-Garhi stated on Sunday that the Egyptian government is working on a medium-term plan to cut public debt levels from 107 percent of GDP in fiscal year 2016/2017 to 80 percent by 2020, after public debts level rose fivefold over the past five years from LE 800 million. During the Inclusive Growth and Job Creation Conference, organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in cooperation with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), al-Garhi clarified that the debt reduction plan aims first to reduce the overall deficit in the budget and achieve an initial surplus of 2 percent of GDP, in addition to an increase of the average per capita income.

The head of Egypt s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mamish announced on Monday the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Dubai with Dubai Ports (DP) and the Holding Company for Maritime & Land Transport (HCMLT) to develop Egypt s first dry port in the 6 October City on the western outskirts of Cairo at a cost of $100 million.
