Dissident's nationality case deferred

An administrative court in Cairo yesterday postponed until April 18 a lawsuit to strip an Egyptian-US dissident of his nationality for 'tarnishing Egypt's reputation', a legal source said yesterday."A lawsuit to strip Saad Eddin Ibrahim of his nationality will be heard on April 18 after his lawyers demanded more time to study the case's papers

," the source said.Ibrahim, living in optional exile in the US, had published a series of articles in which his detractors say he hurt the interests of all Egyptians by calling for US military assistance to Egypt to be cut or conditioned, unless the country makes progress towards democratisation and greater respect for human rights.
