An Other Look to History

At school in school days the teacher of history would teach us geography as well in this geography I learned that Middle East was the following countries, west to east:-

1. Marco

2. Algeria 

3. Tunis

4. Libya

5. Egypt

6. Sudan

7. Lebanon

8. Syria

9. Palestine

10. Jordan

11. Saudi Arabia

12. Kuwait

13. Yemen

But over the years those 13 countries expanded to include Bahrain, Emirates and Qatar, then more African countries -non speaking Arabic- were included however this is not the point, but the point is this important the important thing was this historical event upon the the first World War or WWI!

 After the failed schemes of the British military in Iraq during the First World War, and as a result of their inability to control the Turkish straits, and with the increasing pressure of Turkish troops on the Suez Canal area, this has made the cooperation Arabs with British forces is vital too; so worked Britain to woo Sharif Hussain (Governor of the Hijaz) it, and began the walk "McMahon" and Hussein correspondence and correspondence lasted 18 months, known as AD correspondence "Hussein - McMahon," Britain aims to convince the Arabs to revolt against the Turks, and the al-Hussein, said he had hoped the establishment of an Arab state on the Levant, a region that includes the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq and the Levant, and he is in its ruling! The Levant, also known as the Eastern Mediterranean, is a geographic and cultural region consisting of the "eastern Mediterranean littoral between Anatolia and Egypt" The Levant today consists of Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and part of southern Turkey (the former Aleppo Vilayet). 

 Arabs was also keen to get the recognition of their right to establish an Arab state, from here was conducted secret negotiations between the states of Concord (Britain, France and Russia) about the sharing of the Ottoman Empire (the legacy of the sick man). 

 Have reached the two allies: France, Britain to this treaty in the May 16, 1916 AD; result of secret talks took place between the representative of Britain, "Sir Mark Sykes," and the representative of France "Monsieur Georges-Picot," which were presented the results of their talks secret to Tsarist Russia, I agreed upon in return for an agreement recognize when Britain and France the right to annex certain areas of Asia Minor after the war, and under the Treaty of Sykes - Picot divided Britain and France Levant into five regions: the coast of Syria and Lebanon, and this was given to France, and Iraq and the Gulf was given to Britain, and for Palestine, it was agreed to establish a management International where, but proved to be internationalization (taken international character), it was just a first step, followed by step "Balfour Declaration" in 1917 and then the British Mandate later, the two regions IV and V, have agreed Britain and France to recognize the state or confederation of Arab states, an independent, headed by Prime Arabic which, to be in one of France's regions (the region of the Syrian Interior) right of priority projects and loans in local and independently provide advisers and staff, and so on for Britain in the region, the Iraqi Interior. 

Having briefly reviewed the historical background of the well known Sykes - Picot agreement recalling that this small area the Levant, a region that includes the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq and the Levant of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine were vital areas neighbouring to the top important Suez Canal, however the Arabian Peninsula wasn’t as vital to the allied forces then as petroleum wealth was not yet discovered!

We note here the absence of the United States of America, that was still under development uniting scattered states as they knew unity equals power, and this as well explains why France or Britain did not control that whole area by themselves -either France alone or Britain by themselves- moreover they included and introduced the Jews of Palestine creating the monster of undefeated Israeli power till 1973; So "Balfour Declaration" in 1917 wasn’t just giving away a land, but a nail in the middle of the lands surrounding the Suez Canal to protect the interest of both France and Britain!

In other words, a global occupation by either France or Britain of that area would unify the occupied countries in a global resistance to that occupation! 

Sykes - Picot agreement is not just a one time agreement but over time it become a policy and the first in Egypt that noticed this was R.I.P. Ex-president Nasser who tried to reunite what was divided with that policy, but ethnic differences, and sectarian violences that spread time after time made his task almost impossible, he even died in his last attempt to solve the chronic problems raised by Palestinian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon!

Sykes - Picot policy was re-implemented by the foreign affairs USA office in the so called Arab Spring by igniting general dismay of people over different aspects of life here and there in the middle east, one unified middle east is a clear and present danger to their interests in that spot of the world, but in that spot it happens to be Egypt, not just part of it but its heart, Egypt being in the heart of the world location wise and in history as well!

However, because God blessed Egypt, Egypt so far stood unified as an entity fighting back conspiracies against its unity, but deep inside them very much scattered, between Muslim Brotherhood, to anti Muslim Brotherhood and those are socialist moderate, capitalists, greedy capitalists and you name it, each is for his goals and they can not see that we are still fighting terrorism!

This country, Egypt in his war on terrorism, surrounded by fallen entities Libya, Sudan, Iraq and you name it needs the strong unity of its people to overcame this night mare and stay united, do not let Sykes - Picot policy penetrate our unity between people, army, and police one unity and those who try to ignite differences in police practices amplify them to show that the police is not loyal to its people, do not let those who hate the army officers to do the same with our heroes that still die in this country for this country!

Egyptians, stay united do not let differences subdivide you again keep its unity and future your top priority goal, do not fall into the countless rumour and lies just to ignite and spread division among us, keep God’s blessing and raise this country to the top of the world, may God keep blessing you and Egypt united!
