CAIRO- An independent group, seeking the release of an Islamist, has said it will hold a protest outside the Press Syndicate in Cairo on Monday.
The group has added it collected more than 3,000 signatures to press for the release of Magdi Ahmed Hussein, a journalist and the secretary-general of the frozen Labour Party, jailed by a military tribunal in 2009 for illegally entering the Gaza Strip.
Activists in the group that Hussein's imprisonment has become irrelevant after President Hosni Mubarak last May orderred the opening of the Rafah border crossing with Gaza.
