Egyptian lawyers keep low-profile in crisi

 CAIRO--Hours before a court hears an appeal filed by two jailed colleagues, the nation's lawyers have agreed not to stage protests outside the court building so as to provide "a quiet atmosphere", The Egyptian Gazette Online has learnt.

 

A court in the Nile Delta town of Delta Sunday holds the third hearing session for the appeal filed by the two lawyers, who is jailed on charges of assaulting a local prosecutor. The setencing has triggered a sharp dispute between Egypt's lawyers and judges.

 The two lawyers Saa'i and Fattouh  whowere sentenced to jail for five years for assaulting prosecutor Basem Abul Roos.   Their case has prompted lawyers to stage a nationwide strike.
