Ahly bottom group A after CAF Champions League heartbreaking loss by Asec Mimosas

Cairo giants Al Ahly lost 2-1 at home to ASEC Mimosas in the second round of CAF Champions League on Tuesday, Just three days after being crowned Egypt’s champions.

Al Ahly’s second consecutive CAF Champions League loss has placed the eight-time title winners at the bottom of Group A with 0 points.

Egyptian football association elections to take place late Aug.: acting president

The elections of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) will take place in August 25, Sarwat Swilam, Acting President & Executive Director of the EFA was quoted by Youm7 Wednesday.

The elections come after the Supreme Administrative Court ordered the dissolution of the EFA in a final decision in March.

Ahly president, Martin Jol to meet over loss to ASEC Mimosas

President of Al Ahly FC Mahmoud Taher will meet with the football team manager Martin Jol to review reasons behind the 2-1 loss to ASEC Mimosas at Borg El-Arab Stadium on Tuesday, Youm7 reported.

The Tuesday defeat leaves Al Ahly at the bottom of the group with zero points from two games. They are scheduled to host Wydad Casablanca in their third match of the group stage mid-July.

Ahly fans launch hashtag demanding dismissal of goalkeeper

Fans of Cairo giants Al Ahly launched a Twitter hashtag demanding the dismissal of goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy blaming him for the 2-1 loss to ASEC Mimosas in the second round of CAF Champions League on Tuesday, Youm7 reported.

Following the game which took place in Alexandria, Ekramy became the center of attention after his mistake that lead to ASEC’s eventual winner. In a press conference following the game, Al Ahly’s manager Martin Jol said the club needs to reinforce the goalkeeping position, as well as improve the defensive displays.
