Stoke City's newly signed Egyptian midfielder Ramadan Sobhi expressed his delight after his first appearance with the Potters on Saturday against Hamburger SV.
“I am really happy to finally be a part of the group and I am really excited to be here,” the 19-year-old told the club's official website.
In the team's final pre-season game at the Volksparkstadion, in which they lost 1-0, the young Pharaoh made a fine one-hour display just two days after his first training session.
“I wasn’t expecting to start against Hamburg, but I am very happy to play my first game with my new club.
“I’m really excited about the Premier League, but it’s not my decision to play. I need to work hard and when I get the chance I will do my very best for the good of the team.”
“I think I did okay playing with my new teammates. I was happy to start and get a feel of the style of play,” he added.
“I’ve only been with the club for two days, so I am still trying to adapt but I will hopefully get to know everybody better in the next few weeks.”
After an eye-catching performance in his own country's competitions, Sobhi moved from champions Ahly in the biggest deal ever by an Egyptian club.
