Egypt's 'Wintry Spring' wins best short film award at Armenia festival

 Egypt's short film Wintry Spring (Rabie Chetwy) scooped-up the Best Short Film Award at the Sose International Film Festival, which took place between 23 and 30 September in Sose, Armenia.

Released in 2015 and directed by Mohamed Kamel, the 16-minute film stars Ahmed Kamal and Eman Moustafa. 
 
The film depicts a relationship between a father and his daughter Nour. In an apparently otherwise regular relationship and life, typical youth problems emerge with Nour and create a rift between the two.
 
The film screened across over 90 film festivals around the world and received many awards.
 
The film won Grand Prize for Best Short at the Festival International du Film Pan Africain de Cannes 2016 (France), the Golden Frame Award at Fotogramma d'Oro Film Festival 2016 (Italy), the Best Short Fiction Award at the Tripoli Film Festival 2015 (Lebanon), and the Special Jury Prize at Nouakchott International film festival 2015, among other accolades.
 
Ahmed Kamal was awarded Best Actor at the Fotogramma d'Oro and received special mentions for Best Actor at the International Film Festival of Cinema & Sea 2016 (Morocco).
 
Born in 1959, Ahmed Kamal is one of Egypt's most well-known actors with extensive experience of working in theatre, cinema and television series where he created numerous memorable roles. His filmography includes working with many renowned directors. Kamal also gives acting workshops.
 
Eman Moustafa won the Best Actress awards at the XVIII VideoLab Film Festival 2016 and Cervignano Film Festival 2016 (Italy).
 
Director and screenwriter Mohamed Kamel was born in 1981 and is a graduate from the High Institute of Cinema at the Academy of Arts, Cairo. He has numerous short films – fiction and documentaries – to his name, many of which were screened at numerous international festivals.
