Squash: Egypt's Elshorbagy, Abdel Gawad reach World Championship semis

Egyptian duo Mohamed Elshorbagy and Karim Abdel-Gawad reached the World Championship semis in Cairo after beating Ali Farag and Nick Matthew respectively on Tuesday.

World number one Elshorbagy avenged his loss at the Ahram Open against compatriot Ali Farag with an easy 3-0 win (11-8, 11-5 and 11-8).

Farag had defeated Elshorbagy 3-1 at the Ahram Open in September.

World number six Karim Abdel-Gawad claimed a 3-1 win (14-12, 7-11, 11-3 and 11-9) over experienced Englishman Nick Matthew to advance to the semis.

Abdel-Gawad will face compatriot Elshorbagy in the semi-final on Thursday.

Fares Dessouky (13) will face Rami Ashour (5) in an all-Egyptian quarter final on Wednesday while Tarek Moemen (11) will have a tough test against World number two Gregory Gaultier of France.

If Moeman overcomes Gaultier in Wednesday's game, the semi finals will only comprise of Egyptians.
