Mido replaces Carteron as coach of Egyptian outfit Wadi Degla: Reports

Ahmed "Mido" Hossam has been unveiled Monday as coach of Egyptian club Wadi Degla, Ahram Sports reported.

Mido will replace axed French coach Patrice Carteron, 46, who took charge of the team in January.

Former TP Mazembe tactician Carteron reportedly left Degla due to the club's financial issues, amid the country's foreign currency crisis.

Degla are currently ninth in the Egyptian Premier League table with 11 points from eight games.

Mido, currently a regular TV football pundit, started his coaching career with his boyhood club Zamalek in 2014, and then coached the Suez Canal-based side Ismaily at the beginning of this season, before returning to Zamalek for a second stint.

The former Ajax, AS Roma and Tottenham striker was named as Zamalek's coach again in December, replacing Brazilian coach Marcos Paqueta who was shown the door after some poor results.

Mido, who led Zamalek to the Egypt Cup title in 2014 but lost the league to rivals Ahly in his first spell in charge, was subject to further criticism.
