CAF raises revenue prizes for all African competitions

 The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee has decided to raise prize revenues for all of its continental competitions for the four-year cycle 2017-2020.

 
The decision, announced on Wednesday, was made in a meeting held in the confederation's headquarters in Cairo on 27 September 2016, according to the CAF website.
 
The winning prize of the Africa Cup of Nations has increased by 166 percent, from USD 1.5 to 4 million. The runner up prizes have been raised 100% from  $1 to $2 million, as have the semifinalists' prizes which went from $750,000 to $1.5 million.
 
CAF Champions League winners will receive $2.5 million, up from $1.5 million, while the CAF Confederation Cup winner will receive $1.25 million, up from $660,000.
 
The raises also included youth and women's competition prizes.
