Stoke City winger Sobhi optimistic ahead of Egypt v Ghana showdown

Egypt and Stoke City winger Ramadan Sobhi has said that the timing is right for Egypt to reach 2018 World Cup finals in Russia ahead of the Pharaohs crucial game against Ghana in the second round of the qualifiers.

"We won't wait another five years to qualify for the World Cup; it's the right time to reach the finals where we will fight Ghana," Sobhi told a television programme late on Wednesday.

The Pharaohs will host Ghana in their second Group E game at Borg El-Arab stadium in Alexandria, 13 November. A victory will put them five points clear of the Black Stars, their main challengers in the group that also includes Congo and Uganda.

"I am not worried about the game against Ghana but we have to concentrate on it as well as on the capabilities of our foes," Sobhi said.

"We will do our best to achieve the victory," he added.

Egypt launched their Group E campaign with a 2-1 away win over Congo to top the group with three points, two ahead of second-placed Ghana who were held to a disappointing goalless draw at home to Uganda.

"I swear fans who attend the game at the stadium won't be disappointed, they will be happy after the game. All we need is your support and your attendance to help us win," The Stoke City winger said.
