Egypt's Mohamed Salah explains taking penalty against Ghana

Egypt's Mohamed Salah said he had agreed with spot kick specialist Abdallah El-Said to take any penalty against Ghana, having converted from the spot to help Egypt to a vital 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Sunday.

The AS Roma winger shot straight down the middle shortly before the break to put Egypt ahead at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

El-Said, who killed off the game after finishing off a counter attack four minutes from time, is the usual penalty taker for Egypt and Cairo club Ahly.

"We had talked before the game and he agreed to let me take any penalty against Ghana," Salah told ONTV Sport channel after the match.

"When we won the penalty, he told me to go on and take it."

Egypt lead the group with six points, two clear of Uganda who defeated pointless Congo 1-0 on Saturday.

Ghana are third on a solitary point as their hopes of making a fourth successive World Cup appearance are hanging by a thread.

Egypt next face Uganda in two home and away matches next year.
