Too early to celebrate league title, says Ahly coach after win over Aswan

Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry has expressed his delight at the club's deserved 2-0 win against Aswan on Sunday in match-day 22 of the Egyptian Premier League, but he said the league hasn't been decided yet.

"We still have a long road ahead, because the title will only be decided when the points difference is more than the remaining games," the 57-year-old tactician told Ahly's official website after the game.

Title holders Ahly are leading the table with 64 points, with second-placed Maqassa on 57, while fourth-place Zamalek may have points deducted after failing to show in Sunday's game against Maqassa.

"Ahly played very well. The players were aware of the difficulty of the game," El-Badry said, referring to Aswan's battle to avoid relegation as they sit in 16th place in the table.

Ahly scored early thanks to Mido Gaber's opener in the eighth minute, just three minutes before Souleymane Coulibaly's second.

"I am so happy with Coulibaly's quick integration into the team and his scoring, although his performance faded a little in the second half," El-Badry commented.

The Ivorian striker, who joined from Scottish side Kilmarnock in January, netted his third goal – in as many league matches – with a fine bullet header following a right-wing cross.

Ahly's sixth consecutive win takes them a step closer to winning their ninth league title in 10 seasons.
