Zamalek coach Inacio faces uncertain future after exit from African Champions League

Zamalek s Portuguese manager Augusto Inacio is facing an uncertain future at the club after a depressing exit from the African Champions League group stage.

The Cairo-based club failed to qualify for the quarter-finals following a 2-2 home draw to Libya s Ahli Tripoli, who took the second-place qualifing ticket, in a tough game on Sunday.

"There will be a meeting with Inacio to decide his future with Zamalek," Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour told his club s official website early on Monday.

There have been reports that the Whites have already started talking with Maqassa coach Ihab Galal to replace Inacio, but Mansour has denied the claims.

"If the coach wants to leave, he will leave. If he wants to stay, there will be new conditions and new staff members," Mansour said, revealing his plans to re-build the team.

"Ten players don t deserve to play with Zamalek and the upcoming period will witness new changes at the team," he concluded.

Zamalek could have made it into the quarterfinals if they had won on Sunday, but the draw put the Egyptians third in Group B with five points from six matches.

USM Alger finished on top with 11 points after defeating Zimbabwe s Caps United 4-1 at home in the other group match.
