Egypt defender Ahmed Hegazi celebrated a memorable day at The Hawthorns on Saturday, scoring a winner in his first appearance with his new club West Bromwich Albion.
Hegazie helped West Brom to a tough 1-0 win against AFC Bournemouth in the English Premier League season opener.
“It is a very good win and a fantastic feeling," the 26-year-old player said on the club s official website.
Hegazi, on loan from Egypt s Ahly, scored the only goal of the game in the 31st minute, deftly heading Chris Brunt s inswinging ball from the right between the legs of Bournemouth keeper Asmir Begovic.
"The clean sheet is the first thing you think about as a defender. It s very important to the team," Hegzi added, highlighting the importance of the good start of the season.
"To start well was very important for us. ... The first game is always very important for the team and for the start of the season. We can take enormous confidence from this," the Egyptian concluded.
