Egypts Ahly to miss playmaker Saleh Gomaa against Wydad

Egypt s Ahly will miss midfielder Saleh Gomaa when they host Wydad Casablanca in the first leg of the African Champions League final on Saturday but welcome back Abdallah El-Said after the influential playmaker recovered from injury.

Gomaa replaced El-Said in Ahly s starting line-up in the 6-2 thrashing of Tunisia s Etoile du Sahel in the second leg of the competition s semi-final last Sunday but was injured himself in the first half.

A hamstring muscle strain will rule Gomaa, who took part in Egypt s World Cup qualifying win over Congo which lifted them to next year s Russia finals earlier this month, out of the anticipated clash against Wydad at Alexandria s Borg El-Arab Stadium.

El-Said is likely to regain his place in the starting line-up.

Ahly s squad does not also include injured defensive midfielder Hossam Ashour but versatile defender Ahmed Fathi, who usually plays as a right-back, is included after missing the remarkable win over Etoile due to automatic suspension.

The Red Devils are making their first final appearance since winning the last of their record eight titles in 2013.

Wydad, who won Africa s premier club competition once in 1992, last reached the final in 2011 when they lost to Tunisia s Esperance.
