Liverpools Klopp appreciates Egyptian Salahs desire for goals

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised the performance of Egypt s winger Mohamed Salah after he equalled Harry Kane s 23 goals at the top of the English Premier League (EPL) scoring charts on Saturday, breaking the league s record.

Salah caught up with Kane on Saturday by scoring and providing an assist in Liverpool s 4-1 rout of West Ham United at Anfield.

"I like Mo s desire for goals. You could see that," Klopp was quoted as saying on the club s official website after the match.

"Flexibility and being fluent depends on all the players around. It cannot only be one player who is flexible and fluent, because it doesn t help," he said.

"If you see how we change positions, how Roberto immediately defends each moment for Mo when Mo is in this situation, Sadio is doing the same. It s really important."

The 25-year-old has also become the most prolific left-footer in the history of the EPL, having netted his 20th goal to surpass former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler who scored 19 with his left foot in the 1994-1995 season.

"He [Salah] is obviously doing well, and it was not the biggest chance we had in the game that he scored from," said Klopp.

"Mo is obviously a boy who is full of greed to score goals and that s what you need in front of the goal."

Salah, who joined Liverpool from the Serie A side Roma, has taken the Premier League by storm, scoring 23 goals to take his tally to 31 goals in 37 appearances with Liverpool in all competitions.

He was rewarded for his brilliant run of form last November with the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award, as well as winning the 2017 African Player of the Year award.
