Egypts Elneny says Arsenal looking to end season on high note, backs Arsene Wenger

Arsenal s Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny said he and his teammates are doing their best to end the season on a high note, insisting that under-fire coach Arsene Wenger is "among the best managers in the world".

The Premier League side were dealt three successive league losses before returning to winning ways on Sunday after beating Watford 3-0.

"It is an important win today against a big team like Watfod as it comes after a series of league losses," the Egyptian international, who played the full 90 minutes and produced a fine display in the heart of midfield, told beIN Sports channel after the match.

"I always try to deliver my best in every game as I hope that the team achieves something this season," he added.

Arsenal are sixth in the table with 48 points, 12 behind the last Champions League qualifying spot.

"We talked after the recent poor results and we agreed that Arsenal deserve a better place in the league table," explained Elneny.

"We are taking the situation more seriously now and we managed to beat Milan away in the Europa league before beating Watford. All the players are fighting now to end the season on a high note."

After league defeats by Tottenham, Manchester City and Brighton, the win over Watford came to ease the pressure on under-fire coach Wenger.

"Wenger is among the strongest or the best coaches in the world.  We don t feel any pressure inside the team but are aware of the outside pressure as we lost matches that we weren t supposed to lose it," the former Basel man added.

"As I said we talked together and we are capable to bounce back and bring Arsenal back to the right track."

The 25-year-old joined Arsenal in January 2016 from Swiss side Basel in a deal worth around £5m. He has scored twice since his arrival.

Elneny helped Arsenal win the Community Shield in the season s curtain-raiser following a 4-1 shootout win over Chelsea last August.

He has made 25 appearances in all competitions so far this season, including nine in the Premier League.
