Liverpool star Salah predicts Egypt success at World Cup, eyes Champions League title

Liverpool star winger Mohamed Salah believes that Egypt can go far at the 2018 World Cup, adding that he wants to help his club win the UEFA Champions League title this season.

"Egypt could go far at the World Cup. The team includes youth players who want to deliver all they can, and the same goes for the experienced ones," Salah said in a press conference in London on Sunday while penning a sponsorship deal with Vodafone.

The Pharaohs reached the 2018 World Cup finals, which will kick off in Russia in June, ending a 28-year old drought.

Egypt were placed in Group A along with hosts Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.

Salah, who has taken the Premier League by storm since his summer arrival from AS Roma, continued his prolific goal-scoring run, netting four goals in Liverpool s 5-0 hammering of Watford in the Premier League on Saturday.

He took his tally to 28 league goals, four clear of Tottenham Hotspur s Harry Kane at the top of the competition s scoring charts.

"I have big ambitions to achieve. I don t want to speak about the possibility of winning FIFA s player of the year award,” Salah said.

"I have always tried to be different since starting my journey in Europe. I see that I have a different road and that makes me work faster, better and more enthusiastically all the time," added the former Basel, Chelsea and AS Roma player.

Liverpool boss Juergen Klopp believes that Salah, 25, can surpass Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who are both now in their thirties, to be the world s best player.

"Sure it is a good thing to be compared with a big player who has been on the summit for years like Messi. I speak here only about the comparison of goal numbers," said Salah.

After delivering outstanding performances against Porto in the UEFA Champions league round of 16, Liverpool advanced to the quarterfinals where they were drawn alongside Premier League leaders Manchester City.

"The quarterfinal draw is very good. We know Manchester City very well and so do they. Sure we will work hard to win and reach the semis," explained Salah.

"I want to lead Liverpool to win the Champions League title. I have a target but I won t reveal it till the end of the season," he concluded.

Liverpool currently lie third at the Premier League table with 63 points, 18 behind leaders Manchester City.
