Egypt s national football team flew to Russia Sunday to take part in the 2018 World Cup finals, five days before they kick off their first World Cup campaign since 1990.
The Pharaohs will play Uruguay, hosts Russia and Arab Gulf rivals Saudi Arabia in Group A.
Egypt s delegation arrived to Cairo International Airport in formal suits as they head to Russia to participate in the international event from 14 June to 15 July.
Egypt will kick off their World Cup campaign 15 June against Uruguay and then face hosts Russia on 19 June. Their final group-stage match will be against Saudi Arabia on 25 June.
Egypt s pre-World Cup form has been a cause of concern for many supporters after they failed to win any of their five friendly matches.
They threw away their lead to concede two stoppage-time goals in a 2-1 loss to European champions in Portugal before slumping to a 1-0 defeat to Greece in two games in March.
They salvaged a late 1-1 draw against Kuwait last month and held Colombia to a 0-0 stalemate before suffering a 3-0 loss to Belgium earlier this month.
