The U.S. Embassy in Cairo and Mubarak Public Library invite you to a book discussion on the translated title The Advantages of Democracy: How Democracies Promote Prosperity and Peace by Morton H. Halperin, Joseph T. Siegle, and Michael M. Weinstein. The title is translated and published through collaboration between the Arabic Book Program of the U.S. Embassy and Nahdet Misr Publishing Group. The discussion will present different perspectives on the title’s main themes and allow the participants to debate their application in Egypt.
Speakers: Three distinguished Egyptians will lead the discussion: Dr. Heba Raouf Ezzat, a lecturer on political thought and theory at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science of Cairo University, who has published two books on women and politics from an Islamic perspective and has a forthcoming book on citizenship in liberal thought; Dr. Emad Gad, an expert on international relations at the Al Ahram Center for Strategic Studies; and Negad Al Borie, lawyer and former chairman of the Group Democracy Development.
